SUKKUR: Officials of administration and law enforcement agencies raided an illegally established cement factory which was manufacturing substandard cement, seized machinery and material and sealed the factory on National Highway in Khairpur on Wednesday.

Officials said that Mukhtiarkar Waqar Soomro took the action after receiving tip-off about the factory. The factory owner and his workers escaped during the raid as the officials seized illegally manufactured substandard cement and other equipment including cement making machines, said the officials.

Mr Soomro told local media that he had received a report about illegal production of substandard cement hence they had taken the material and machinery into their custody and sealed the factory.

He disclosed that the substandard cement was being transported for sale to other areas of Sindh as well including Khairpur district. The factory had been sealed while the owner escaped during the raid, who would be arrested soon and further action would be taken against him, he said.
