LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved Rs62 billion for Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme, and has directed the authorities concerned to complete the process of providing loans under the scheme to the applicants as soon as possible.

During a special meeting on the project, she also set a target of providing loans to at least 40,000 applicants by the month of May and considering the suggestion of increasing the loan amount from Rs1.5m to Rs2m.

The chief minister was briefed on the project by the relevant authorities. She was told that about 5,000 citizens across Punjab have taken loans under the scheme, and more than 4,200 houses are nearing completion.

In collaboration with the Ravi Urban Development Authority (Ruda) and Housing and Urban Development Department, poor families will also get constructed houses.
