BAHAWALPUR: The Dunyapur Sadar police in Lodhran district arrested Mehboob Pawli, hardened criminal, who sustained injuries from the firing of his accomplice during an encounter with police at village 348/WB.

The encounter followed a report to Pukar 15 regarding two dacoits fleeing after snatching a motorcycle at gunpoint. The police recovered the snatched motorcycle, a pistol and eight bullets.

Pawli was shifted to a hospital for treatment, while his accomplice, Aslam, alias Donn, managed to escape. A special team has been formed to arrest the fugitive.

In a separate case, Dhanote police arrested a man at Basti Azizpur for attempting to abduct and rape a seven-year-old girl. According to the police, the suspect was arrested by locals in nearby fields and handed over to the police.

PROMOTION: Dr Muhammad Rauful Hassan has been promoted to professor (BS-20) of Pulmonology by the Punjab Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department. He was transferred to Quaid-i-Azam Medical College/Bahawal Victoria Hospital from Sheikh Zayed Medical College, Rahim Yar Khan.

MEPCO: The Multan Electric Power Comoany reported the arrest of 21 electricity thieves and the recovery of over Rs7.8 million from defaulters in Bahawalnagar, Sadiqabad and Mailsi sub-divisions. Also, 12 transformers were removed during the operations, according to a press release.
