LCCA ground in poor shape

Published October 17, 2001

LAHORE, Oct 16: The LCCA ground, a venue for first class matches in Lahore is in a bad condition due to the fact that the ground has not been watered for the last one month.

The tube-well used for watering the ground was out of order and a new one is being installed. But since no alternate facility was available in the interim period the major part of the ground has lost its greenish patch giving rise to dust clouds whenever a fielder dives or runs for the ball.

The players currently playing matches at the LCCA ground are not happy over its playing condition, complaining that fear of injury and poor fielding due to its un-even land is affecting their performance.

The new tube-well was being arranged with financial assistance from the PCB. The present situation could have been avoided, had the PCB started the project in line with its earlier plan, which was to start well before the commencement of the domestic season.
