KARACHI: Calling the under-construction Red Line project a cause of severe mental distress and consistence nuisance, Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly Ali Khurshidi of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan has demanded that the Sindh government apologise to the people of Karachi for its “incompetence”.

Speaking at a press conference at the party’s temporary headquarters in Bahadurabad on Monday, he highlighted the slow progress on Red Line, which began in March 2022, but has been delayed due to government “incompetence.” He doubted that the project was likely to be completed even in 2026.

“It’s another lie that it [Red Line] would be completed in 2026. The unfinished construction work on the project has caused significant hardships for the people of Karachi with incomplete projects exacerbating their daily struggles,” he said, adding: “The daily life of people living in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Gulistan-i-Jauhar and up to housing schemes of Scheme-33 are affected the most.”
