BAHAWALPUR: A woman suffered serious dog bite injuries as three landlords allegedly unleashed their pet dogs on her at Chak 28/DNB in the limits of Derawar police station in Cholistan.

As per police, a woman, Parveen Bibi, went to collect firewood from an outhouse, where landlords Javed Iqbal, Umar and Belal allegedly unleashed two dogs on her.

The dogs mauled the woman, leaving her seriously injured.

On being informed of the incident, a police team arrived at the scene, rescued the victim and shifted her to Khutriwala Rural Health Centre (RHC) for medical treatment.

A police spokesperson said that taking notice of the incident, District Police Officer (DPO) Asad Sarfraz Khan directed the Derawar police to register a case against the suspects and arrest them.

Accordingly, on the complaint of the victim’s husband Ashraf, the police registered an FIR (No 621/24) under section 289 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against the suspects, who managed to secure interim bail before arrest from a court till Jan 16, 2025.

The spokesperson said the victim was discharged from the RHC after her condition improved. He said the police are investigating the incident.
