KARACHI: New gate of central jail

KARACHI, April 16: Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui on Sunday inaugurated the newly constructed main gate of Karachi Central Prison and the bus stop outside it.

The main gate of prison and the bus stop have been built with the assistance of philanthropists.

The minister said that the government was taking steps for the welfare of prisoners with the assistance of NGOs and philanthropists. He said that a number of prisoners had been released, who were languishing in jails for minor offences and those who were granted bail but could not afford the payment of bail amount.

IG Prisons Brig M.H. Ayaz Mughni, Jail Superintendent Amanullah Khan Niazi and other officials were present on the occasion. —PPI
