KARACHI, April 15: Seven ships carrying 351 cars and to load 20,000 tons of rice are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Sunday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was modest where four ships, Maersk Alabama, Corin Thaikos to unload and load containers, Oriental Bouquet and Jo Selje, to offload oil and chemicals were berthed after the departure of five.

The ships, which departed were led by Iran Kordestan, Orient Independence, Calvin P. Titus, Amar and Orionis, while Maersk Alabama, Oriental Bouquet Ioanthi and Jo

Selje are due to sail out on Sunday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was relatively slow owing to strike and as a result, total tonnage handled fell to 59,159 tons comprising 15,930 tons of export cargo and 43,229 tons of import tonnage.

The following ships are due on Sunday: Swat, with crude oil, Rising OM with chemicals, Kota Merdesa, with containers, Mirna to load 20,000 tons of rice, Magic Sky, with 351 cars, Eastern Princess and Patria, with general cargo.

The following vessels are due on Monday: Kota Tabah, Dong He, Hanjin Busan, Conti Esperance, with containers and Calmy Coral, with general cargo.

KARACHI, April 15: Berthing activity was slow as only two ships carrying containers and iron ore were berthed at QICT and IOCB during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Saturday.

Meanwhile, three more ships to load and offload containers, high speed furnace oil and fertiliser also arrived at the outer anchorage.

A total of five ships, Natalia, Docomo, Pleione, Yellow Knife and Loch Lomand, were busy in loading and unloading containers, edible oil, seeds, wheat/soybean and iron ore.

A cargo volume of 47,539 tons comprising 42,609 tons of import and 4,930 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Sailing was active as Natalia, Pleione and Yellow Knife left the port. Five ships, Dona Bass, Aqua Dance, Kudam, Ville De Mars and Thor Skipper, were awaiting their berthing turn at the outer anchorage.
