PESHAWAR: Eight terrorists, including a ring leader, were killed in two separate operations in South Waziristan and Lakki Marwat on Thursday, the military’s media wing said in a statement.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), an intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted in Sararogha, South Waziristan, on the reported presence of terrorists.

The security forces effectively engaged their location and gunned down two of them, while two were apprehended.

The ring leader, Khan Muhammad alias Khoryay, was involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area, including target killings and extortion, ISPR added.

He was wanted by law enforcement agencies in multiple cases and carried head money of Rs1million.

The second IBO in Lakki Marwat resulted in the killing of six armed militants, ISPR added.

The statement added that sanitisation operations were being conducted to eliminate any other miscreants found in the areas.

This is the second operation in Lakki Marwat in as many days. On Wednesday, the military’s media wing said five armed assailants were killed and two injured in an exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists in Lakki Marwat district.
