ISLAMABAD: China plans to set up more than 22 centres of excellence in Pakistan to provide advanced technical and vocational training along with Chinese language proficiency.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Pakistan’s National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and China’s TANG International Education Group.
According to a statement, under the guidance of Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the MoU emphasised the commitment of both nations to support each other in their development journey.
“This initiative aims to develop a skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of modern industries while fostering innovation through Pakistan-China collaboration,” it stated.
The signing ceremony was attended by Federal Education Minister Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy Yang Guangyuan, Federal Secretary for Education Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, NAVTTC Chairperson Gulmina Bilal Ahmad, President of the All Pakistan Chinese Enterprises Association (APCEA) Wang Huihua, President of TANG International Li Jinsong, CEO of TANG International Pakistan Song Jianying, and Chief Operating Officer of TANG International’s Overseas Operation Center Qiu Haitao.
The project focuses on establishing a world-class Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Center of Excellence, offering modern IT programmes and creating employment opportunities. It is expected to play a pivotal role in Pakistan’s socio-economic development.
On this occasion, President of TANG International Li Jinsong stated, “We are delighted to partner with NAVTTC on this important initiative. This project will help transform Pakistan into a hub of skilled talent, contributing to its economic progress and strengthening the bond between our two nations.”
NAVTTC Chairperson Gulmina Bilal Ahmad added, “This collaboration between TANG International and NAVTTC reflects the strong ties between Pakistan and China. Our focus is to equip Pakistani youth with skills that align with global job market demands, particularly for opportunities in China, Nigeria, and other One Belt, One Road projects. This initiative will enhance global employment opportunities for Pakistani youth, improving their quality of life.”
This partnership underscores the commitment of both countries to advancing technical education, creating opportunities for the youth, and fostering socio-economic progress.
