SIALKOT, April 12: A truck driver was allegedly shot dead by a filling station salesman for complaining about short measure of petrol at Othiyaan village of Daska tehsil on Tuesday.

Reports said the driver, Niyamat Ali, exchanged hot words with salesman Qaisar Masih at the filling station over short measure. The salesman shot him dead on the spot and fled away.

Bambaanwala police have registered a case against the accused and the filling station owner with no arrests.

Meanwhile, local transporters have protested against the killing of the truck driver and demanded immediate arrest of the accused.

They also demanded an official campaign against the filling stations indulging in short measuring and adulteration, which they claimed was on the rise in Daska tehsil.

Case: Daska police registered a case against two SHOs of different police stations for forcibly getting freed a robber from police custody.

Police had arrested bandit Tahir of Dheedowali village soon after a robbery incident near Sabzi Mandi, Daska. Later, the accused SHOs went to the Daska police station and thrashed SI Zulfiqar Warraich as “punishment” for arresting the robber.

Meanwhile, DPO Dr Tariq Khokhar told journalists that a strict action would be taken against the accused SHOs.

HELD: An international Mehfil-i-Qira’at was held at the Goa Murray College under the auspices of the district government on the eve of Eid Miladun Nabi.
