ISLAMABAD, April 12: The house of a human rights lawyer in the Supreme Court was again ‘burgled’ in a short period of five months. Zulifiqar Ahmed Bhutta, a lawyer in the Supreme Court, lodged a complaint with Sihala police, alleging that his house had been burgled just to intimidate and stop him from pursuing human rights cases.

Mr Bhutta claimed that the burglary was staged to check sensitive and important documents of different human rights cases, including that of Sonia Naz and Mukhtaran Mai.

He said the burglars entered his house located in Korang Town through the hole made for the exhaust fan in the kitchen when they failed to break open the locks of the entrance door.

The burglars ransacked the house in search of valuables and documents.

In his complaint, he said his mobile set was missing, and the ‘burglars’ went through his sensitive documents.

Earlier, on December 17, some burglars broke into his house and made off with cash and gold.

He said Sub-Inspector Ayub was transferred when he was close to solving the case and arresting the main culprits.
