OKARA: At least two members of a family died, while four others were injured when the roof of a room, where they were asleep, caved in at 19/1R village on Satgrah Road, around 10km from here, on Thursday night.

As per Rescue 1122 officials, the family of one Khadim was asleep in a room of their house when its roof collapsed.

As a result, Khadim’s wife Abida Bibi and their eight-year-old daughter, Urfa, died, while he and his three sons, Wajid (15), Anas (6) and Ibrahim (5) suffered injuries.

On being informed of the incident, a Rescue 1122 team reached the spot and with the help of the locals, retrieved the bodies and rescued the injured persons trapped under the debris.

The bodies were shifted to the district headquarters hospital, while the injured were provided first aid by the rescuers.

SENTENCED: Renala additional session judge (ASJ) handed down life imprisonment to two men, along with Rs100,000 fine in a murder case registered at Shergarh police station.

As per the prosecution, the convicts, Ghulam Mustafa and his brother Qaiser Nawaz, along with their father Nawaz and another accused, Mamoora, hadhad shot dead Najma Bibi, wife of Mustafa, and injured her minor daughter Minahal, at her parents’ house at 34/1AL village in April 2023 over a family dispute.

The Satgrah police had registered a case against them under sections 302, 324 and 34 of the PPC. Two of the accused, Nawaz and Mamoora, were acquitted.
