QUETTA: Bolan Medical College has been closed for two weeks following a clash between two student organisations on its campus on Tuesday.

According to police, the violence erupted over a dispute regarding the allotment of hostel rooms. “Clashes broke out when a dispute developed over the hostel rooms,” police said, adding that both student groups attacked each other with sticks and rods.

Police rushed to the college and used tear gas to disperse the students involved in the violent confrontation. Six students were injured in the clash and later admitted to the Bolan Medical College Hospital. A total of 12 students were arrested in connection with the incident.

The principal of college in a notification announced that all academic activities would remain suspended for two weeks. The hostel has been closed and students have been told to vacate the premises.
