Republicans have secured control of the Senate with crucial wins: Bernie Moreno in Ohio, Jim Justice in West Virginia and Deb Fischer, who held on to her seat in Nebraska, the New York Times reports.

For the first time in history, the Senate will have two Black women serving simultaneously: Lisa Blunt Rochester in Delaware and Angela Alsobrooks in Maryland, both Democrats.

Democrats will have to defend several key seats to have a chance of keeping the Senate. The win targets below are based on what each party needs to reach 51 seats, assuming they win the races they are expected to win most easily, NYT notes.
