ISLAMABAD: Muham­mad Khalid Khan Khattak has been given the charge of national co­­ordinator of National Cou­nter-Terrorism Autho­rity (Nacta).

The post fell vacant after recent appointment of Muh­a­­mmad Tahir Rai as the di­­r­ector general of National Police Bureau. Mr Khattak is the senior-most officer posted at Nacta.

He was holding the post of member of Counter Terror­ism, Nacta. A career police of­­­­ficer who joined Police Ser­­­vice of Pakistan in Nov­ember, 1995, Mr Khattak has 29 years of policing exp­erience having served at federal and provincial levels both in field and on staff assignments.

During his career, he has served on different portfolios including sub-divisional officer, district police officer, ministry of interior and staff officer/principal staff officer with inspector general of police and commanded districts in the field.

He remained additional director of white-collar cri­mes & immigration directorate at Federal Investigation Agency and also served as director of Anti-Narcotics Force in three directorates: International Cooperation (IC), Assets & Financial Inv­estigation (AFI), and Plan­ning & Development (P&D). He also served as the capital police chief.
