KARACHI, April 7: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) on Friday accused the city government of disturbing various programmes chalked out to celebrate the Eid Milad-un-Nabi, saying the city government had dig out all major roads in the city while sewerage water was accumulated around mosques.

Speaking at a joint press conference at the JUP Karachi office, JUP leaders also criticized the KESC and police and said that they were also creating hurdles in the smooth holding of Eid Milad celebrations.

They alleged that people were trying to illuminate streets and buildings in their respective areas but intermittent disruption in the electric supply was creating problems in this regard.

They also criticized police for not issuing permissions for taking out processions on the eve of Eid Milad. They demanded of the city government to clean roads and routes of Eid Milad processions on emergency basis and said if their demands were not met, they would be compelled to initiate protests.—PPI
