PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday said no effort would be spared in speeding up the development of the provincial metropolis.

“Peshawar is the city of all people in the province, and we are united in our service to it,” he said during a meeting with a delegation of Hindkowan Tahaffuz Foundation led by its chairman Haji Ameen Hussain Babar, which called on him at the Governor’s House on Monday.

The delegation briefed the governor on the organisation’s objectives and services.

The delegates demanded adding ‘Hindko’ to the province’s name, installation of welcome boards in Hindko language along the motorways, provision of land for the Indus Hospital and establishment of a health centre for treatment of drug addicts.

They also called for free online courses for youth.

The foundation’s members emphasised their commitment to preserving the city’s rich cultural heritage, and proposed various initiatives aimed at promoting the Hindko language and community development.

Governor Kundi praised the social contributions of the Hindkowan Tahaffuz Foundation and committed to addressing the issues and demands raised by its members.

He highlighted the historical significance of both Peshawar and the Hindko language.

Meanwhile, Governor Kundi assured the pensioners of Pakistan Television Corporation that he will play an active role in payment of their longstanding commutation dues.

He promised this during a meeting with a delegation of retired PTV employees led by Liaqat Ali Khan at the Governor’s House.

The PTV employees said payment of commutation dues to over 300 pensioners had been withheld for more than two years, pushing them into grave financial distress. They said they had rendered over 40 years of service to PTV.

Mr Kundi promised to work towards finding a solution to their issue.

The pensioners also expressed their gratitude to Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for his interest in addressing their issues.

Meanwhile, the governor welcomed the newly-appointed Commandant of the Frontier Constabulary, Mohammad Riaz Nazir Gara at the Governor’s House here on Monday.

During their discussion, they focused on the professional duties and responsibilities of the Frontier Constabulary in maintaining peace and order in the province.

Governor Kundi congratulated Mr Gara on assuming his new role and expressed his best wishes for his success.

Mr Kundi said Frontier Constabulary was a highly professional force, and its exemplary role in improving law and order was commendable.
