ISLAMABAD: Gunmen looted cash and valuables worth over Rs5 million in three incidents, police said on Thursday.

In the first incident, gunmen looted cash and valuables worth Rs2.5 million from a house in Farash Town, police said, adding that the incident took place at the house of Mohammad Rasheed, a retired government official.

Three gunmen raided the house when the residents were asleep and woke them up, they said, adding that two other accomplices of the three gunmen remained outside the house to keep an eye on surroundings.

The criminals detained the residents in a room and threatened them with dire consequences and asked to hand over cash and valuables, they said, adding that later they looted seven tola gold ornaments, Rs110,000 cash, 500 Saudi Riyal, and other valuables worth Rs2.5million.

One of the gunmen also fired at Rasheed but fortunately he survived, they said.

In another incident robber looted Rs2million cashfrom a green grocer Mohammad Zahid at I-10 Markaz, the police said, adding that Zahid was in vegetable business and operating from capital’s Vegetable and Fruit Market.

Moreover, gunmen looted Rs1.4million cash from the owner of a junk-yard in Model Town Humak, the police said, adding that Hussain’s nephew came over the junkyard along with the amount. But he was followed by two persons on a motorcycle.

The motorcyclists held Huassin and his nephew Shahab Munawar at gunpoint and looted the amount from them and escaped, they said.
