ABBOTTABAD: Hazara DIG Tahir Ayub Khan has made it clear that no compromise will be made on the security of Chinese and other foreigners working on different CPEC projects in the region.

He stated this while speaking at a high-level meeting held here on Wednesday to review the law and order situation in the division.

Mr Ayub directed the district police officers, who participated through video link, to visit the project sites, where Chinese and other foreigners are working, to assure them of foolproof security.

The DPOs updated the meeting about the security plans for the foreigners working on development projects in their respective districts.

ORIENTATION SESSION: Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, organised a two-day orientation session for leading paediatricians and healthcare providers of Bannu and DI Khan divisions here on Wednesday.

It was organised in collaboration with provincial chapter of Pakistan Paediatric Association (PPA) and Unicef.

According to a statement, the session was aimed at chalking out a strategy for overcoming the existing challenges in eradication of poliovirus in the endemic zone of southern KP.

Speaking on the occasion, EOC deputy coordinator Mohammad Zeshan Khan said the entire administrative machinery, law enforcement agencies and health department officials were actively participating in the whole process to oversee and manage ground challenges and ensure administration of polio drops to all eligible children.

He said various innovative strategies put in place were enabling the programme to get access to unreachable pockets, especially in Bannu and DI Khan, and ensure the vaccination of maximum children.

However, he pointed out that growing trend of boycotts and misconceptions about polio vaccine, especially in southern KP, were proving to be a major stumbling block in ensuring the vaccination of all eligible children.

He also highlighted the critical role of paediatricians in supporting the government to protect children from the crippling disease.

The NOC coordinator said the programme was focusing on engaging senior doctors, paediatricians, local healthcare providers and clinicians to orient them on the changing programme dynamics.

PPA KP president Dr Mohammad Hussain highlighted the critical role of healthcare professionals in eradicating polio.
