KARACHI, April 4: Professors and doctors working at Lyari General Hospital have threatened to stop performing operations in absence of generators because of frequent suspension of power in the locality, it is learnt here. According to hospital sources, both the generators of the hospital are not functioning properly. It is further learnt that despite repeated requests of the hospital authorities, the concerned government department has taken no measures, so far.

In the absence of standby generators, the staff is reluctant to perform any operation, hospital sources said.

The LGH administration has brought the matter to the notice of all concerned, but their efforts could not produce any positive impact on the concerned government department.

It is also learnt that two newly installed lifts are also not functioning properly, and it is causing great inconvenience to the staff and patients.

The hospital sources conceded that owing to slow pace of renovation work, patients and staff members are facing problems.

An untidy situation is being witnessed in the hospital. Washrooms in OPD Section and wards which were demolished for repair purpose are yet to be completed.

The hospital is also facing water shortage which sometimes leads to postponement of surgeries. The sewerage system is also defective which is causing seepage.
