Militant leader beaten up

RAWALPINDI, March 29: Maulana Fazlur Rehman Khalil, the chief of the banned militant outfit Harkatul Mujahideen and his driver were abducted by some people from Tarnol and later left at a deserted place on Wednesday, police and hospital authorities said.

They were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital where they are said to be stable.

According to the injured, they were going to their car after saying prayers when six people travelling in another car dragged them into their car at gunpoint and drove away.

The victims claimed that they were taken to some undisclosed place where they were beaten up by the kidnappers.

Later, they threw them at a deserted place and disappeared. SSP Islamabad Sikandar Hayat said a complaint had been lodged.
