Arms cache and drugs seized

QUETTA, March 29: Law-enforcement agencies on Wednesday seized a vehicle, arrested its driver and seized drugs and a large quantity of arms and ammunition in two separate operations.

A police statement issued on Wednesday said that a crimes branch team, led by by SP Asif Saifullah Paracha, recovered weapons on Tuesday night that were dumped in mountains in the Chasma Achozai, a city suburb.

The arms cache included two rocket launchers, 19 Kalashnikov assault rifles with six magazines, four hand-grenades, 67 kilograms of explosive material, and 6,830 rounds of ammunition. No arrest was made, the statement said.

A statement by the Customs (preventive) said that its staff recovered 480 kilograms of hashish from a truck during a routine check. The truck driver, Abdul Qadeer, was arrested.
