MULTAN, March 28: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf chairman Imran Khan has demanded registration of a criminal case against those responsible for Waziristan killings. Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, he said he had thought of quitting the National Assembly when the government launched operation in Waziristan but then he realised that it would be useless to resort to this extreme action alone.

He said but now the time had come for a consensus among all opposition parties to resign collectively against the ‘military dictatorship.’

“How the present setup can be termed democratic when the powers of chief executive are not with the elected prime minister?” he questioned.

He said the US had been paying $70m per month to Pakistan Army for the operation

He demanded that the judiciary and election commission should be independent institutions so that justice and fair and free elections could become a reality. He suggested that the election commissioner should be elected through a two-third majority of the National Assembly.

The PTI chief also addressed a meeting of the workers of his party besides making a speech to the district bar association.
