PESHAWAR, March 28: Provincial Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Sardar Muhammad Idrees has promised to take measures to provide maximum facilities to local government employees. The minister called upon employees to discharge their official obligations with devotion and dedication and address grievances of the people. He was presiding over a meeting of the All Pakistan Local Government Workers’ Federation held at his office here.

District Nazim Haji Ghulam Ali, town nazims, representatives of the federation, local council board secretary Rehmat Ghazi and officials of other concerned departments attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed in detail the demands presented by the federation and tabled some proposals regarding their implementation. The federation presented their demands, including release of pension, promotion, appointment of employees’ children, overtime allowance, daily wages appointment and allotment of houses/quarters to the employees.

The minister issued directives that pension cases be finalised without any delay and complicated matters be discussed with him. The meeting decided that illegal appointments, including daily wages employees, would be terminated from service. However, children of former employees already appointed would be retained.

The meeting assured that other matters of the federation would be finalised accordingly.

Car seized: The NWFP Excise and Taxation Department has seized a car bearing registration No LOW-9904. The car was sent to FSL Laboratory Peshawar for chemical examination of its chassis number but the laboratory report said that the number had been welded and replaced.
