KARACHI, March 28: Police have prepared a special fleet of 16 vehicles, equipped with wireless sets, emergency lights and other necessary gadgets for patrolling on city’s important thoroughfares under security plan which will be in place on the occasion of Expo-2006 from March 29 to April 2, 2006.

Besides driver, each vehicle will have three commandos who will keep patrolling at Quaid-i-Azam International Airport, Sharea Faisal, Karsaz Road, Expo Centre and places of stay of foreign delegates and other important places, right from the start to conclusion of international exhibition.

Police have set up check posts at several points: Quaid-i-Azam International Airport, Madam Apartments Sharea Faisal, Karsaz Traffic Post, Hasan Square Traffic Post, Nursery Traffic Post and FTC Traffic Post - which will also have fire brigade, ambulance, bomb disposal squad besides KESC, gas and water board representatives.

Traffic police, too, have chalked out a coordinated traffic plan on the occasion of exhibition to ensure unhindered traffic flow.—APP
