QUETTA: A police station came under a grenade attack in the provincial capital on Sunday evening, leaving at least two officials injured.

It was the second grenade attack at a police station in Balochistan during the past couple of days, as earlier on Friday a police station in Mach, a coalmines town of Bolan district, came under attack.

On the other hand, several personnel of Frontier Corps sustained injuries in grenade attacks on their camp and posts in Quetta, Turbat and Khuzdar.

Officials said some motorcyclists hurled a hand grenade at Quetta’s Gawalmandi police station, leaving two police constables injured. They were later shifted to hospital, where they were identified as Mohammad Zaman and Noor Jan Khetran.

“Both policemen received splinters of the grenade that exploded on the police station premises,” Dr Wasim Baig, spokesman for the hospital said.

Also on Sunday, a Frontier Corps (FC) post in the Absar area of Turbat, the district headquarters of Kech, came under attack, police said.

They said unidentified miscreants hurled a grenade at the security post. As result of the explosion, two FC men received injuries. They were identified as Hawaldar Hanif and Sepoy Mohammad Asghar.

In the Sariab Road area of Quetta, three FC personnel were injured in a grenade attack on an FC post, late on Sunday night. Police said armed men riding a motorcycle hurled a grenade at the security post. Three FC men were injured in the explosion, the police said.

Reports were received about another grenade attack at the FC camp in Bazgeer area of Khuzdar at late night. However, no loss of life was reported.

On the other hand, the bomb disposal squad defused an explosive device planted at the door of a photocopier shop in Duki bazaar.
