PESHAWAR, March 27: Police on Monday arrested two drug carriers and seized 750 kilograms of hashish from two trucks that they had stopped at a check-post near the town of Bara in the Khyber Agency.

The drivers of the two vehicles were also arrested.

Police had erected barricades on a road near the Bara Qadeem check-post after receiving information from a unnamed source that some criminals would attempt to smuggle in narcotics through the route.

SUSPENDED: Chief of City Police (CCP) Habib Rehman on Monday suspended two clerks of the Peshawar Police Lines on a complaint of one Naseer Khan that the clerks, Zaheerullah and Faridullah, had ignored his complaints and demanded bribe from him.

After confirming the report, an FIR was registered against the clerks and Mr Rehman suspended both of them on the spot.—PPI
