A police official said an elderly woman died in Saiduwali area a few days ago, and the family had buried her quietly.

However, he said people noticed some blood on the body during her burial and informed the police.

The official said Paharpur police led by SHO Samar Abbas Shah started investigation into the matter. He said the police collected information from an informer and later interrogated the son and daughter-in-law of the deceased. He said the daughter-in-law of the woman disclosed that two of the granddaughters of the deceased had strangled her.

She said the reason behind the murder was that the deceased had witnessed her granddaughter with her boyfriend.
