LAHORE: Police on Sunday registered a case against a suspect for aerial firing during a live performance of stage artiste Nida Chaudhry at Rex Theater Multan on Saturday night.

The incident caused panic among the audience but no one was hurt due to the firing. However, the Rex Theatre security came under scrutiny after the incident.

Nida Chaudhry was performing in the play when the gunshots were heard in the hall. Ms Chaudhry stopped the performance and left abruptly in the middle of the play.

According to reports, the suspect, identified as Usman alias Sona, opened fire into the air inside the theatre, causing chaos and disruption during the show.

Police registered a case against Usman on multiple charges, including attempted murder, issuing threats and aerial firing.

Multan City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar took notice of the incident and constituted special teams for the arrest of the suspect.
