PESHAWAR, March 26: Four alleged kidnappers were killed and a policeman and two Frontier Constabulary troops were injured during a shoot out in the Palosi Talarzai village in city suburbs on Saturday. A local trader, the target of kidnapping, also suffered shrapnel wounds after a grenade attack, Provincial Police Officer Riffat Pasha and Senior Superintendent of Police (operations) Saeed Khan Wazir said in a joint press conference at Police Headquarters on Saturday evening.

They said that the four kidnappers had tried to kidnap Mr Subhan, a cattle trader, after intercepting his car. Some residents of Palosi village, who had seen the incident and a police squad chased the kidnappers, they added.

The kidnappers abandoned the car along with the trader at Talarzai area of Palosi village and entered Raza Khan’s house. By that time the police and FC personnel reached the place and fired tear-gas shells to force the kidnappers to surrender, the SSP said.

But the kidnappers started firing and hurled hand-grenades on the police and FC personnel, injuring constable Asif, FC personnel Fazle Amin and Noor Zamin and the trader Subhan.

The police also opened fire and the shoot out continued for two and a half hours, Mr Wazir said, adding that finally two police officers Rajab Ali Shah of University Town police and Rahat entered the house and shot them dead.
