SUKKUR: Three police officials were killed on their way to police station when a gang of dacoits ambushed them on a section of link road near Miyani Ghulam Hussain village in Rwanti riverine area, Ghotki district, on Wednesday evening.

The dacoits, who were waiting on motorcycles for the policemen in banana fields along the road, opened indiscriminate fire at the officials when their motorcycle passed by. Two policemen died on the spot and the third succumbed to his injuries when he was being shifted to taluka hospital, said police officials.

They said that Ghotki SSP Sumair Noor Channa led a strong contingent of police force drawn from different police stations and Rangers personnel cordoned off the area and mounted a search for the fleeing dacoits.

They said the bodies of the police officials, Abdul Sami Samoon, Abdul Hanan and Shafique Ahmed Gul, were shifted to hospital for post mortem examination.

Meanwhile, the SSP told local media persons that the police officials were killed in a cowardly attack by dacoits. They would not spare any persons involved in the policemen’s murder, he vowed.

Man killed in clash

A tribesman was killed and another was wounded during an armed clash between two rival group of Bhangwar clan at Garhi Mori in riverine area, Kandhkot district, on Wednesday.

Mehruddin Bhangwar died on the spot and Qurban Ali Bhangwar sustained gunshots wounds.

Police officials said that they rushed to the area and shifted the dead body and the wounded to Kandhkot Civil Hospital.
