PESHAWAR: A constable was injured when militants attacked a police post in Regi Model Town (RMT) on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Tuesday night.

The attack took place at Zone-3 of the township when militants fired at a post of the RMT police station in the Warsak division. Constable Ahmad Ali received bullet injuries on his hand, according to a statement issued by the city police.

Ali was shifted to a hospital for treatment.

The statement said that the police retaliated to the attack, forcing the militants to flee. A search operation was launched immediately after the attack. There was, however, no mention of any arrests made during the search operation in the official statement.

Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer Qasim Ali Khan visited the post and inspected security arrangements there. He lauded the personnel deployed at the police post for thwarting the militant attack.

The CCPO also visited other police stations and posts in the Warsak division.

“There will be no compromise on maintaining law and order and security in the city. Policemen should utilise all the available resources to thwart subversive attacks,” a statement quoted the CCPO as saying.
