SARGODHA, March 23: Two constables and as many cattle lifters were injured in a ‘shootout’ between police and cattle lifters here on Thursday on Sargodha-Jhang Road, some 50km from here. Reports said four men took away three buffaloes from Luqman village near Bhagtanwala and proceeded towards Sahiwal Road. On a tip-off, police intercepted them near Jhang area. A joint police team of Sargodha and Jhang exchanged fire with the accused as a result of which constables Sultan and Mukhtar and two cattle lifters were injured. Two others managed to escape. The police have arrested the injured cattle lifters.

Some months ago, the Sargodha police had seized about 100 animals from an outhouse of cattle lifters who later moved the high court and the police had to return 50 animals.

ABDUCTED: Five unidentified men allegedly abducted a newly-wed woman and her eight-year-old sister from general bus stand here on Thursday.

Reports said ‘K’ was returning to her in-laws along with her husband Muhammad Ismail when the accused kidnapped her and her sister ‘S.’
