PESHAWAR, March 23: The NWFP government is committed to its obligation under the Beijing Conference communique to take measures for raising the status of women, an official said here on Thursday. Provincial Secretary for Zakat, Ushr and Social Welfare Sultan Mehmood Khattak said at the opening session of a three-day gender sensitisation training workshop that the government had taken a number of steps for the welfare of women in every walk of life. He said the significant allocation of seats for women in the local governments was a strong evidence of a sincere effort on part of the government.—Reuters
