TAXILA: A newly-wed couple wasshot dead in mohallah Saghirabad in Jand town of Attock on Friday, police and hospital sources said.

Amna Shahzadi who fell victim to brutal killing was daughter of a sub inspector of Attock police who contracted court marriage Mohammad Kashif some two against the will of her family.

The girl’s father had threatened the couple of dire consequences. On Friday, the girl’s brother intercepted the couple and allegedly showered them with bullets killing them on the spot.

On getting information, a Rescue 1122 ambulance reached the spot and shifted the bodies to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.

Police spokesman confirmed that the assassin was arrested and a sophisticated gun was also recovered from his possession.

Police have registered a double murder case against the accused and launched further investigation.
