SUKKUR, March 22: Three members of a family were killed over a property dispute in the Dara Wahan village near here on Tuesday night. Mohammad Sharif Narewal allegedly barged into the house of his elder brother, Mohammad Yousuf Narewal, while inmates were asleep and opened indiscriminate fire, killing Mohammad Yousuf, his wife, Kamalan, and nephew, Ashiq.
On a complaint of Mohammad Hashim, brother of Mohammad Yousuf, the Kandhra police registered an FIR against Mohammad Hashim.
On Wednesday, District Nazim Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, DPO Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh, Rohri Taluka Nazim Aslam Shaikh and Kandhra Union Council Nazim Abdul Sattar visited the house of the deceased Yousuf and offered condolence to the family.
ELECTROCUTED: The superintending engineer, operations, Hesco, Sukkur, in a statement issued here on Wednesday said that three residents of the Danwro Phulpoto village in Khairpur were electrocuted while they were reconnecting a power line in their village.
He said power supply to Danwro Phulpoto, Jumo Phulpoto and Ali Shah villages had been disconnected for non-payment of dues.
The electrocuted villagers were identified as Abdul Majeed Phulpoto, Ghulam Rasool Phulpoto and Allah Bux Phulpoto.
HOAX BOMB: A hoax bomb call brought the rail traffic between Sangi and Ghotki railway stations to a grinding halt for about four hours on Wednesday afternoon.
Railway authorities said an unknown person called police at about 1.00 pm and said bombs had been planted on tracks between Sangi and Ghotki.
The call sent the railway staff running. They halted rail traffic immediately, and summoned a bomb disposal squad from Sukkur, which carried out a thorough check on the tracks but found no bomb.
To make extra sure, railway officials ran a pilot engine between Rohri-Reti and back, and gave clearance for the trains to move on at 4.20 pm.
The trains which had to be halted were, Hazara Express stopped at Sarhad, Shah Rukn-e-Alam Express stopped at Sadiq Abad and other trains stopped at Rohri.
PROTEST AGAINST POLICE: Hundreds of villagers including women and children staged a sit-in to protest against police on National Highway near Lakhi Ghulam Shah on Wednesday morning brining the traffic to a grinding halt for more than two hours.
Protesters from Ibrahim Shaikh and Suleman Shaikh villages led by Gul Sher Shaikh told newsmen that Lakhi police had made it almost a habit to raid their villages and mistreat women and children without any reason.
The protesters later ended blockade after DSP headquarters, who had rushed to the scene, assured them of justice.
