KARACHI, March 22: Power supply to Liaquatabad and adjoining areas of Nazimabad and Federal B‘ Area was restored with alternate supply source on Tuesday night, a KESC spokesman said on Wednesday. The spokesman said that repair work on 132KV extra high-tension line would be completed by Wednesday night.

Liaquatabad Grid would be reconnected with original EHT cable for stable power supply to the area and alternate source would be dismantled on Thursday evening because of which electricity consumers may experience temporary interruptions, the spokesman said.

KESC CEO Frank Scherschmidt along with senior KESC officers visited the site at Liaquatabad No 10 and spent some time with workers repairing cable in the trench to motivate and expedite work.

He appreciated residential and commercial consumers of the area for co-operating with the KESC during power breakdown period particularly for using electricity with awareness of shortages therefore alternate supply sources were not overloaded avoiding further tripping.

KESC engineers adopted a unique method of energising Liaquatabad grid by connecting one phase from Haroonabad and other two from Civic Centre to restart the affected grid. This kind of networking was done first time in a similar situation in 2004 to activate Jacob Lines Grid, and has successfully worked this time also for quick restoration of power supply so that the affected electricity users may not wait for electricity till completion of the repair works, the spokesman added.
