SAHIWAL: District and Sessions Judge Ziaullah Khan has awarded death on two counts to a man for burning alive and murdering his wife, the mother of eight, in village 93/12-L on April 24, 2023.

The case was registered under PPC 302, 324, and Section 7 of the ATA on the complaint of the deceased woman’s father.

Reports indicate that Shazia was married to Tariq 20 years ago. The couple had eight children. In 2022, Shazia returned to her father’s house after a dispute with him.

On the night of April 24-25, Tariq visited his father-in-law’s house where he threw petrol on sleeping Shazia and set her on fire. Shazia was was taken to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital where she succumb to her burns.
