KARACHI, March 21: Residents of Jaffar Fadoo Road and adjoining areas in Kharadar have been facing acute water shortage for many weeks due to negligence of the authorities concerned. Inhabitants of the area expressing their concern over the situation said that the KWSB did not solve the lingering problem despite registration of many complaints.

They said that low pressure in main line was causing the shortage in localities of Kharadar. A small pump installed decades back could not meet the needs of growing population, as a result the tail-enders and old consumers got little or no water, they added.

Area residents urged the high-ups to take notice of the grim situation and direct the officials concerned to make immediate arrangement for provision of sufficient water to area residents on permanent basis.

Meanwhile, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board announced that some areas of North Karachi and Gadap would brave water shortage on Wednesday, adds PPI.

A spokesman of the KBCA said that a valve would be installed in North-East Karachi Old Pump House in connection with the K-III project, therefore, water supply to some areas of North Karachi and Gadap would be interrupted on Wednesday from 10am to 8pm.

He said that normal water supply would be restored in these areas on Wednesday night.
