RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast heavy rains and gusty winds across the country from June 26 (today) to July 1.
The Met Office warned of possible urban and flash floods in Islamabad,Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Narowal and the hilly areas of Kashmir from June 28 to June 30. It also cautioned about dust storms, windstorms and lightning impacting daily routines and structures such as electric poles, vehicles and solar panels.
Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are expected to reach eastern parts of the country fromJune 26 as a low pressure system lies over south of Indian Gujarat.
The weather system is likely to bring rain, wind, and thundershowers with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms to variousregionsfrom June27 to July 1, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum,Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar and Mianwali.
Rain and thundershowers are expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, D.G. Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Layyah from June 26 to June 30.
Sindh is expected to have rain and thundershowersin areas includingMithi, Umarkot, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Tando Allahyar, Badin, Thatta, Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushero Feroze, Khairpur, Dadu, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore and Larkanafrom June 26 to July 1.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected in Gilgit Baltistan, includingDiamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigaras well as regions ofKashmir, including Neelumvalley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur from June28 to July 1.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to have rain and thundershowersin Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Hangu and Kurramfrom June 28 to July 1.
Balochistan is expected to experience rain and thunderstormsfrom June 28in various regions including Lasbella, Khuzdar, Awaran, Jhal Magsi, Kalat, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Zhob and Barkhan.
