LAHORE: The Punjab police registered 141 cases against the banned militant organisations for illegally collecting hides of sacrificial animals across Punjab during Eidul Azha.

The action was initiated on the directions of Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar to all the regional and district police officers besides the senior officers of the Lahore police.

A spokesperson for the Punjab police says that action against illegal hide collection was taken indiscriminately against those violating the government directives.

He says the Punjab police also arrested 124 suspects involved in collecting hides in violation of the rules. Of them, Lahore police arrested 115 lawbreakers and registered 108 cases against them.

Similarly, Faisalabad police registered 10 cases and arrested four suspects, Muzaffargarh police 10 cases and Hafizabad police filed four case against the hide collectors, besides making arrests.
