HYDERABAD, March 20: The provincial secretary information of the PML-N, Zahid Rafique Butt, has said that the political situation in the country demands that elections should be held under the supervision of an independent and autonomous election commission.

He said that the popular leadership of the country must be allowed to take part in the general elections.

He was speaking to party workers at the residence of local PML-N leader Tanvir Siddiqui on Sunday.

The provincial vice-president of the party, Tariq Khan, joint secretary Khalid Aziz Arain, former MNA Shabbir Hassan Ansari and Rafique Lodhi were also present on the occasion.

He said that Mian Nawaz Sharif had convened a meeting of the central committee of the party in London on March 24, and 25 at which, he would announce date of his return to Pakistan.

He said that all opposition parties, including the MMA and the ARD, would meet in June and announce the formation of a joint alliance for restoration of democracy to get rid of dictators.

He said that Mian Nawaz Sharif had never met Osama Bin Ladin and termed utterances of Qazi Hussain Ahmed in this regard as irresponsible.

Noted politicians, writers, and educationist will deliver speeches on the main objectives of the creation of Pakistan and the situation that has obtained in the country ever since.
