SUKKUR, March 20: A group of people from Jacobabad held a demonstration and staged sit-ins outside the press club and the Sukkur RPO office on Monday, demanding arrest of policemen allegedly involved in the death of Abdul Ghaffar Shaikh.

The protest was held under the aegis of the Talani Ittehad and the protesters included relatives of Mr Shaikh, who had died in police custody on Feb 5.

Talking to protesters outside the press club, Talani Ittehad leaders Mir Kamal Khan Talani, Gul Mohammad Talani and others criticized police for not arresting the accused nominated in the case. They alleged that police were reluctant to arrest their colleagues and were providing shelter to them.

They warned of staging a sit-in outside the National Assembly building in Islamabad if the culprits were not arrested.

Later, the protesters went to the RPO office, Sukkur, and staged a sit-in there. RPO Akbar Arain negotiated with the protesters and ordered the DIGP of Larkana to arrest the culprits within three days.
