KARACHI, March 20: Police on Monday registered an FIR against an Indian boat for allegedly opening fire at a Pakistani fishing boat resulting in the death of a fisherman on March 18.

According to the captain of the boat, Asad Jamal, they left the Ibrahim Hydri jetty on March 13, for the fishing trip aboard Al Kulsoom.

According to him, on the morning of March 18, they were close to Kajar and War Creek when they were fired upon by an Indian patrol boat. As result of the firing, one of the crew members, Abdul Rehman, 50, son of Abdul Shakoor, died. Rest of the crew jumped into the sea to save their lives.

On Monday body of Abdul Rehman was brought to Karachi for burial, police said.
