The vast majority of women-led organisations in Gaza have sustained damage to their offices during fighting between Israel and Hamas, Al Jazeera reports according to a survey by UN Women.

Thirty-five per cent of the organisations have had their offices completely destroyed, the survey said.

Nevertheless, more than half of women-led organisations have continued operating at full capacity, relying on a large volunteer network to provide life-saving assistance and relief.

“Despite all their suffering and deprivation, Palestinian women, and the organisations they lead, are […] at the heart of the current humanitarian response”, said the UN organisation.
