LAHORE, March 18: Seven amateur bands entertained audience at the open air theatre of the Alhamra Cultural Complex on Saturday night. Earlier, students of a local institution staged a play at Hall No 1 on the third day of the fifth National Youth Theatre Festival.

Featuring Taimoor Salahuddin, JA, Paper Clock, Brain Pilot, Anti-Thesis, Purple Void and The Rising, the performances by rock bands were named GIG night.

Performed by the students of LACAS, It Runs in the family is about a physician. Busy in preparing a lecture he is to deliver after one-and-a-half hours, the physician has some visitors — his ex-mistress with their illegitimate 18-year-old daughter and police. He attempts to get rid of the uninvited guests by lying which aggravates the situation. Later, the physician juggles his way through the crisis.

GCU, Faisalabad, will present Ammal Nama at open air theatre at 6:30am while the Lahore University of Management Sciences will stage The Glass Menagerie at Hall No 1 of the cultural complex at 8:30pm on Sunday.

The entry to the festival is through free passes.
