KASUR: Three children were killed while as many other people suffered injuries in two incidents of roof and wall collapse due to a windstorm late on Monday night.

In the first incident that took place at Haveli Pahrianwali village in the limits of Sheikhum police station, two children were buried alive while a minor girl and a man sustained injuries when the roof of a room of their house collapsed due to a windstorm.

Locals and Rescue 1122 officials took out the bodies of two-year-old Nauman and eight-year-old Sunita Shakoor from the debris. They also recovered Waris, 35, and two-year-old Neeha from the rubbles and shifted them to the DHQ Hospital.

Separately, three-year-old Umra Arbab died while her mother, Sakina Bibi, sustained injuries when the wall of their house fell on them due to the windstorm.

The injured was rushed to the DHQ Hospital.

Police are looking into the matter.

ROBBERY: A gang of nine robbers deprived the family of a farmer of cash, gold and other valuables worth Rs10 million at Marali Hithar village in the limits of Khudian police station on Tuesday.

According to police, the armed men entered the house of Khalid Mahmood and held the family hostage at gunpoint. Later, they locked the family in a room and fled after collecting 25-tola gold ornaments, Rs1.8 million in cash, a motorcycle, licenced weapons, mobile phones and other valuables.Police have started investigations.

ARRESTED: Phoolnagr police arrested a robber after an exchange of fire near Nathay Khalsa village on Tuesday.

Following an information that three robbers have deprived a man of Rs110,000 in cash on Multan Road near Nathat Khalsa village, the police set up a picket. Seeing the police, the robbers opened fire which was retaliated.

After an exchange of fire, the two robbers managed to escape leaving behind their third accomplice in injured condition. The police shifted him to hospital.

Police claimed the arrested robber, later identified as Zulfiqar Masih of Mission Colony, Raiwind, was injured in firing by his accomplices and was wanted by Lahore and Kasur police in 39 cases of robbery.
