MIRAMSHAH, March 18: Miscreants fired 12 missiles at the paramilitary forces fort in the North Waziristan Agency headquarters here on Friday night. Eight of the rockets landed near the civil colony, three hit close to the fort and one exploded in the main bazaar.

A watchman, Sher Daraz, was slightly injured when a missile exploded near him, while three shops in front of the civil and works department offices were damaged.

Security forces retaliated and opened artillery and machine-gun fire on the attackers, who managed to escape in the dark. The exchange of fire between the forces and the militants continued for about two hours.

Meanwhile, the political authorities continued announcements in the Miramshah bazaar, warning the Afghan refugees to leave the area.

Sources said the administration had arrested about 25 refugees for failing to leave the agency.
