SWABI: Two teenage boys drowned in the River Indus here on Monday, Rescue 1122 and police officials said.

They quoted eyewitnesses as saying that Zaweer Ahmad, 17, and Mohammad Tayyab, 16, were bathing in the River Indus in Garmunara area to beat the heat along with their friends when they drowned.

The locals informed Rescue 1122 whose teams reached the spot and started search for the boys.

The deceased hailed from Gar village.

Also in the day, a man died by suicide in Bodono area of Topi city on Monday, rescue officials said.

They said a team shifted the man to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, whose doctors pronounced him dead.

SHO Topi city police station Haroon Khan told Dawn that the man ended his life over a family dispute.

The deceased was identified as Sharif Khan, 50.

MAN KILLED: A man identified as Abid Khan was killed allegedly by his first wife, police said quoting the second wife of the deceased.

Lubna Abid, widow of Abid, told police that locals informed her that someone killed her husband and that his body was lying in a nearby area. She said when she reached there, she found him dead.

Tordher police registered an FIR against the deceased’s first wife, Hamida, on the complaint of Lubna, and started investigation.
